People living with Parkinson’s across Featherstone and the surrounding areas are being encouraged to try a new wellbeing programme from Featherstone Rovers Foundation.
When: every Monday from 5.30pm to 7pm
Where: Featherstone Rovers Foundation, The Millennium Stadium, Post Office Road, Featherstone, WF7 5EN
Supported by Parkinson’s UK, the new Power for Parkinson’s sessions offer low to moderate intensity exercises and movements to help more local people live well with the condition.
All ages and abilities are welcome to take part and no previous experience of movement or exercise is required. The sessions are being delivered by experienced instructors from Featherstone Rovers Foundation and carers or relatives are welcome to watch or participate in the new classes.
Participants are recommended to wear appropriate activewear and footwear for the low to moderate intensity activities and it’s advisable to bring a bottle of water as well.
James Court, Community Development Officer at Featherstone Rovers Foundation, said:
“Living with Parkinson’s can be tough, and it’s easy to feel like things are slowly getting harder. But the right kind of movement and support really can make a difference.
“This programme is designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s. It’s not about pushing yourself to extremes-it’s about helping you move a bit easier, feel a bit steadier, and build your confidence back up.
“You don’t need to be fit, and you won’t be expected to keep up with anyone else. Everything is adapted to you, and we go at your pace.
“It’s also a chance to be around other people who get it, which honestly makes a big difference.
“If you’re curious, just come and try a session-no pressure, see how it feels.”
